Bible School

Lincoln had a great time in the 3 year old class.  The Monday after bible school was over, he asked me about a million times if he could go to bible school "tomorrow."  I think we finally resolved that conversation with "when I am four then I will get to go to bible school again!"
There was a petting zoo on Friday.  Lyla was not excited to pet the animals;" I don't like that bunny."
Overall she had a great time in the nursery that week, most days waking up and saying "go to church mommy!"
I know she got to play with bubbles, and I think they got the same snacks as the bible school kids...needless to say, a highlight for Lyla!  One day I peeked in on her and she was the only one sitting at the table while the rest of the kids were playing after eating their snacks.  That day the snack was animal crackers and a big pile of cool whip to dip them in.  When I saw her sitting by herself her plate was spotless, and she was licking her fingers one by one.  She just couldn't let any of the cool whip go to waste!

He didn't want to touch the animals either.  Apparently my fondness for animals is wearing off.

Zoo, Biking, and Swimming

We have had alot of fun so far this summer!
First time testing out a bike with training wheels.  He does pretty well but needs a push every once in awhile. He ended up falling and scraping his knee so I was afraid he wouldn't get on again.  After a few talks from Matt and I about how everyone falls and scrapes when learning to ride a bike, he did end up trying again.  We have gone a couple times since then, and one time he said "this bike totally fits me!", and another, "mom, I fell but I didn''t even cy!"!

We joined the Y for the first time and have REALLY enjoyed the pool!
After watching Lincoln go under water, Lyla told me she wanted to as well, so I didn't keep her from going under when she jumped off the side with a life jacket..    Ever since then she has been pretty cautious in the water and will always say "mommy help me," to make sure I am going to catch her!  She didn't cry when she went under, but obviously didn't enjoy it much either!.  So far every time we have walked by the changing table in the bathroom she has pointed at it and said, "that's what babies do."

With friends at the zoo!

Schroeder Reunion

Matt's parents had all the Schroeders over the first weekend in June.  We had fun seeing everyone and playing games outside.
Tossing water balloons

Michaela helped her sit on Jake.  As you can see she wasn't too excited about it.  After she got down she said;  "I don't like that horse."

Definitely shouldn't have been watching this.   Lincoln is not that coordinated so watching him climb up  there was a little scary.   Ed told me there are  no moms allowed, and now I know why!

More birthdays and a Wingnuts game

Papa Ed and Gm Pam came one weekend in May and gave Lyla and Blake their birthday presents.  The kids love hitting the ball off the tee, and of course the water guns were a big hit, especially when everyone got to shoot Matt!

Watching the Wingnuts baseball game with Gm Brenda.  My mom kept pointing their mascot out  to her which is a squirrel.  I don't think she liked it because at one point she called it "a mean bear."

The kids watched for about 30 minutes, and then they wanted to go to the playground where there was lots of unsupervised kids.  There is a bleacher section right next to the playground where parents can sit and watch the game and their kids, but it was pretty obvious what they were watching more!

I know, he is getting so old!  I tried to help him cross the monkey bars since he fell flat on his bottom when he did it.  However, he had observed the older kids cross flawlessly and wanted to do it by himself!   And no, he never did it by himself, and also never let me help.  It seems too soon for him to be embarrassed of me, but I am pretty sure that's what was happening!  Mom is only going to get less and less cool from here on out...

Happy Birthday Grandpa Doug!
