Monkeys Swinging in a Tree

The kids learned this at the Park City Library storytime we go to on Wednesdays.

Abby's birthday party

We had alot of fun visiting Uncle Nate and Aunt Ang in KC.  Matt went back home with my parents after Abby's party, and the kids and I stayed for 2 nights.

Happy #2 Abby!
Really fun tire swing in their back yard!

At the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead

They all loved drawing on these chalkboards in the old schoolhouse

Cousins

My kids sure do love their cousins.  The picture of Lyla and Brooklyn was taken at our house. Brooklyn  was reading Lyla some stories.  They also had a great time playing shopping that day, and of course Lyla was having a ball naming off all the different foods they were going to "buy."   For anyone reading that doesn't know, Lyla REALLY enjoys her food and has never not finished her meal, with the exception of eating broccoli, lettuce, or cucumbers.  Even still, I can sometimes get her to eat those things if she is promised something better after she eats them!

Black Eye

Though we are not for sure, the story is that Lyla got a black eye from falling on a toy in the basement.  This is what I saw when Matt brought them to church since I was there early for choir.
After taking the band-aid off a few days later it didn't look quite so bad, but it did look like she had put on some purple eye shadow for awhile!

Big Girl Bed

The first night Lyla slept in her bed we told her she could only get up if she had to go potty.  After three times of going potty, and us helping her put her diaper/shorts back on, we told her she couldn't get up anymore.  (I think this was about an hour and a half after we had put her to bed).  Later that night I found her diaper in the bathroom, and her asleep like this. I suppose she knew she would be in trouble if she asked us for help getting her diaper and shorts back on so she just gave it her best try!  Still, I am not sure how the shorts got wrapped around her waist?

Another hot July day

Cousins Brooklyn and Bo,  Lyla, Lincoln
My sister-in-law Steph and I go to a mom's group at our church.  We all met up at one of the mentor moms' neighborhood pools.  It was a little complicated trying to eat these ice cream sandwiches before they melted because it was so hot!  I think 105 had to have been the average high for this month! Yuck!

Lincoln Quotes

"I am going to be a grandpa when I grow up, and Lyla is going to be a woman."

I had just cleaned the bathroom and saw that Lincoln didn't put the toilet seat up when he used the bathroom.  I told him that I had just cleaned the toilet, and was explaining to him that he needed to put it up so he didn't get potty on it .  He looked at me and said, "well, you can just clean it again mommy."

4th of July

Matt telling them what is going to happen with the tank when he lights it.  He was really excited about this, but they didn't seem too impressed when it took off!

Texas Trip

Matt had to go to the Protection One in Irving, TX for 4 days for work, so we went along with him.  My friend Danni loaned me her GPS so I planned on visiting some new places with the kids while he was working.  I  found out quickly that all the kids wanted to do was stay at the "'hotel pool" and swim, so that's what we did most the time. I did take them to a lake one morning, but that proved to be a big mistake as all they did was whine about walking on the rocks and swimming in the dirty water!
We ate out all the time, and it didn't take too long for us all to get used to that treatment.  Last weekend I was at Furniture Row looking at kitchen tables, and Lyla sat down at one and said; "when they bring me my food?"
I forgot my camera and had to use Matt's phone so the pictures aren't the greatest.
Still not sleeping...they were up till almost 11:00 the first night.  It's a  big party when your not used to sleeping in the same room!

Watching a movie on the laptop on the way home.  This was her first time using headphones  so she gave me some strange looks when I first put them on her.

Swimming Lessons

Lincoln took two weeks of swimming lessons at the Y.  He had a really great teacher and did alot better then I expected.  His biggest accomplishment was learning to tolerate going underwater.  He had never gone under before, not even close.  I mean I had to work really hard to convince him to even put his face or head in the water a tiny bit, and he used to SCREAM when we would wash his hair in the bathtub.  Ok, anyway... much to my surprise, he went down to get a swim ring when the teacher asked him to, and he now goes under without much hesitation.. I can even get him to try to swim to me if I stand a little ways away from the wall and he pushes off.  He doesn't stay up but he is trying!
Big improvement from crying in the tub because he got water on his back.  Yes, that really did happen at one point. Are you starting to get a picture of how fun bath time used to be?
.
Lincoln is the one in the back.  They were supposed to use their arms and race to the teacher from the side of the pool. I was glad he didn't notice he was the last one every day!

"Jampa, Jamma, and Tookies"

I finally took a few minutes to record Lyla talking and singing.  I tried to get her to say/sing a couple of my favorites.   The other day she kept asking me where her "toes" were, and I could not figure out what she was talking about.  I could tell she was getting kind of exasperated trying to get me to figure it out, and finally I realized she was asking me where her clothes were!
